How to Check Your PSP Firmware Version
I’ve gotten a lot of questions from people about how to check which firmware version their PSP is currently running. As you have probably seen, the method for cracking your PSP that I discuss on this page only works for versions 5.03 and lower. Before you go ahead and attempt the crack, you need to make sure you’re running the right firmware version on your PSP so you know if it will work or not.
Here is a quick way to check:
1. On your main screen, scroll over to “Settings” and click on it.
2. Once in Settings, scroll to “System Settings” and click on that.
3. You should now see an option that says “System Information” and you want to select that.
4. When you’re in System Information, you will see a screen that looks like the one below. Your firmware version is the number after “System Software”. If it’s 5.03 or lower, you will be able to crack your PSP by using the method talked about on this site. If it’s anything higher, you will need to downgrade.

I hope that clears up any questions you might have regarding your PSPs firmware version and how to check it. If you have any other questions feel free to drop a comment.

i have psp 3000 and the firmware is 6.2. Can i downgrade it? if i can, what i have to do?
Hey George,
Here is a link to some videos that show you how to downgrade the 6.2 firmware PSPs: http://videos.pspcustomfirmware.com/index.php?search=psp-6.20-downgrade
Just look on the left sidebar of that page and you will see “PSP Firmware 6.2 Downgrade Guide”. Click on that and the videos will come up.
I haven’t watched them yet myself because there’s quite a few of them, but hopefully they will answer your question.
If none of those videos help, let me know and I’ll try to find another site for you.
